· US announces death of American soldier in triple
bombing somewhere in Diyala Province.

Baghdad.

Taxi driver killed in drive-by shooting in western
Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 8:45pm Baghdad time Saturday
evening, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a taxi
driver was killed when gunmen in a private car
unleashed a hail of light-arms fire on him in the west
Baghdad district of al-Bayya‘, on Saturday morning.

Yaqen reported witnesses as saying that the cab driver
was killed on the spot and that security men rushed to
the scene and began investigating.

Bosnia to send more troops to aid US occupation of
Iraq.

In a dispatch posted at 4:45pm Baghdad time Saturday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the
US-client state of Bosnia, a predominantly Muslim
republic in the former Yugoslavia, had decided to send
another 49 troops to increase its occupation force
serving the US in Iraq.

Yaqen reported that the Bosnian regime would send 49
troops of its 6th Infantry Division to serve as guards
for the American “Camp Victory,” located at Baghdad
International Airport, in August this year.  At the
present time, 36 soldiers from the US satellite state
of Bosnia serve the American occupation troops
stationed near the city of ad-Diwaniyah, 180km south
of Baghdad in al-Qadisiyah Province.  The regime of
the Muslim state of Bosnia first sent troops to
support the American occupation of Iraq in 2005.

Bomb wounds aides to Iraqi government minister
Saturday.

In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 7:31pm
Saturday afternoon Beijing time (3:31pm in Baghdad),
the Xinhua News Agency reported that an adhesive bomb
had exploded in the car of the Director of the Office
of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific
Research in the al-Iskan neighborhood of western
Baghdad on Saturday.

Xinhua reported a source in the Iraqi government
police as saying that the blast wounded two of the
minister’s aides.

US troops fire percussion grenades to break up
gathering of police recruits in west Baghdad, wounding
four.

In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 7:31pm
Saturday afternoon Beijing time (3:31pm in Baghdad),
the Xinhua News Agency reported that a US patrol fired
four percussion bombs at a gathering of recruits near
the police station in the al-Furat neighborhood of
western Baghdad.

Xinhua reported a source in the government police as
saying that the attack wounded four of the police
volunteers.  The source said that the American troops
fired the grenades in an attempt to break up the
gathering of the volunteers.

Two bombs target US troops in Baghdad Friday evening.

In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 3:56pm
Saturday afternoon Beijing time (11:56am in Baghdad),
the Xinhua News Agency reported that two bombs
exploded by US troops in Baghdad on Friday evening.

Xinhua reported a source in the Iraqi government
police as saying that one bomb went off in the
southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah and the other
exploded by a US patrol on Beirut Square in east
Baghdad.  No information on the nature or extent of US
casualties, if any, was available.

Car bomb near west Baghdad restaurant kills three
civilians.

In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 3:56pm
Saturday afternoon Beijing time (11:56am), the Xinhua
News Agency reported that a car bomb exploded by a
popular restaurant in the west Baghdad district of
al-Harithiyah on Friday evening.

Xinhua reported a source in the police as saying that
the carbomb went off near the al-Fusul al-Arba‘ah
(“Four Seasons”) Restaurant in al-Harithiyah, killing
three people and wounding 10 more, in addition to
damaging the restaurant and a number of nearby cars
and buildings.

US announces death of American soldier in triple
bombing somewhere in Diyala Province.

In a dispatch posted at 9:40am Baghdad time Saturday
morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the US
military had admitted that one of its troops had been
killed and five more wounded when three bombs exploded
near an American patrol in Diyala Province.

Yaqen reported an American communiqué as announcing
the deaths, but failing to specify precisely where,
when, and under what circumstances the three-bomb
attack took place.

Ninwa Province.
Al-Mawsil.

Attacks continue to target Iraqi government policemen
in al-Mawsil Saturday.

In a dispatch posted at 10:35pm Baghdad time Saturday
night, the Yaqen News Agency reported that gunmen
killed one one Iraqi government policeman and wounded
a second as other gunmen blew up a house that had been
used by guards who manned a roadblock in the city of
al-Mawsil, 420km northwest of Baghdad, on Saturday.

Since 10 May, the US and its Iraqi regime allies have
been carrying out an offensive against al-Qa‘idah in
al-Mawsil.

Wasit Province.
Al-Kut.

Prominent leader of anti-occupation Sadr Movement
wounded, arrested in gun battle in al-Kut.

In a dispatch posted at 9:55pm Baghdad time Saturday
night, the Yaqen News Agency reported that Iraqi
regime forces backed by the US occupation regime
arrested a prominent member of the anti-occupation
Sadr Movement in the city of al-Kut, 180km south of
Baghdad, on Saturday.

Yaqen reported Captain ‘Aziz Lafif al-Imarah of the
Iraqi regime’s Rapid Deployment Forces, as saying that
his men had arrested Sayyid Tahsin, a prominent leader
in the Sadr Movement in the city.  Al-Imarah asserted
that weapons of an unspecified quantity were found in
Tahsin’s home in the ad-Damuk neighborhood of eastern
al-Kut.  He added that a gun battle took place at the
time of the arrest, in the course of which Tahsin was
wounded in the right leg.

Al-Imarah announced that Tahsin was believed to have
been involved in 45 armed attacks on US-backed
security forces.

Since March, the US-backed Iraqi regime has been
actively engaged in an offensive against the
anti-occupation Sadr Movement and its armed wing, the
Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, in Iraq, in what is believed
to be preparation for an American attack on Iran.

Bomb targeting US military column shuts down
electricity power station in al-Kut.

In a dispatch posted at 6:14pm Baghdad time Saturday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a bomb
exploded under a high-tension tower, shutting down the
old electricity station in al-Kut, 180km south of
Baghdad.

Yaqen reported a source in the al-Kut police as saying
that the explosion occurred on the road between al-Kut
and al-‘Amarah on Saturday when a column of US troops
was passing through the area.  The blast cut electric
lines and shut down the al-Kut power station, which
supplies half of the city of al-Kut with electricity.
The source had no information regarding the nature or
extent of US casualties if any.

Maysan Province.
Al-‘Amarah.

Fourteen members of anti-occupation militia reported
arrested in Maysan Province.

In a dispatch posted at 7pm Baghdad time Saturday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a
spokesman for the US-backed Iraqi regime’s Defense
Ministry had announced that 14 members of the
anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militia had been
arrested in the course of the government’s on-going
offensive against the Sadr Movement and its armed wing
in Maysan Province.  Yaqen reported Major General
Muhammad al-‘Askari as announcing the arrests.

On Thursday the Iraqi government launched its security
sweep of Maysan Province, another step in the general
offensive by the US-backed regime against the
anti-occupation Sadr Movement and its Jaysh al-Mahdi
militia launched in March this year.  That sweep has
involved pitched battles and mass arrests in southern
al-Basrah Province and in Baghdad’s Madinat as-Sadr
and other districts.

US-backed regime troops discover bomb factory in
continued offensive against anti-occupation Sadr
Movement.

In a dispatch posted at 1:20pm Baghdad time Saturday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that
government troops had discovered a factory for making
adhesive bombs located east of the city of al-‘Amarah,
290km southeast of Baghdad, in their continuing
offensive against the anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi
militia in the province – an operation that is seen as
part of American preparations for an attack on Iran.

Yaqen reported a source in the provincial police as
saying that the bomb-making factory was found between
the towns of al-Kahla’ and al-Mashrah, 20km east of
al-‘Amarah.  The authorities broke up the plant and
transported the materials found there to their
headquarters in al-Butayrah near al-‘Amarah.

On Thursday the Iraqi government launched its security

anti-occupation Sadr Movement and its Jaysh al-Mahdi
militia launched in March this year.  That sweep has

Five elected members of Maysan Province Assembly
arrested by US-backed regime as preparations for
American attack on Iran continue.

In a dispatch posted at 10:45am Baghdad time Saturday
morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the Iraqi
government in the southern province of Maysan had
announced the arrest Saturday of five members of the
elected Provincial Assembly who were also members of
the anti-occupation Sadr Movement.  The arrests of the
elected officials came in the course of US-backed
operations targeting the Jaysh al-Mahdi and Sadr
Movment in Maysan in apparent preparation for a US
attack on Iran.

Yaqen reported a source in the police as saying that
the five were on a list of 16 current government
officials in Maysan Province, now listed as “wanted”
by the American backed regime in Baghdad.

On Thursday the Iraqi government launched its security

In continued preparations for American attack on Iran,
Iraqi regime troops arrest eight people raids,
searches in al-Basrah.

In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 7:41pm
Saturday afternoon Beijing time (3:41pm in Baghdad),
the Xinhua News Agency reported that Iraqi Interior
Ministry forces arrested eight people in the course of
its continued raids and searches in al-Basrah
targeting the anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militia.

Xinhua reported a source in the Iraqi government
forces as saying that the regime’s troops also seized
100 artillery shells in the an-Nashwah area, 40km
north of al-Basrah and one anti-tank mine and one
Katyusha rocket, in addition to a remote control
device.

Since March, the US-backed Iraqi regime has been
actively engaged in an offensive against the
anti-occupation Sadr Movement and its armed wing, the
Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, in Iraq, in what is believed
to be preparation for an American attack on Iran.
